Security officer found murdered in guard hut

first_imgA security officer attached to the Cummings Electrical Company Limited was found dead in a guard hut on the business premises on Sunday.Dead: Keegan BostonThe now dead man, identified as 60-year-old Keegan Boston of Lot 520 East Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, Georgetown, was discovered with a wound to the back of his head.Reports are that the man was last seen alive about 23:00h on Saturday while executing his duties at the company’s Garnett Street, Campbellville location.However, Boston was found dead in the hut about 06:15h on Sunday by an electrician attached to the company in the presence of another security guard who was supposed to relieve Boston of his duties.According to the security guard, he realised something was amiss when he kept calling out to Boston for him to open the gate, but he did not get a response.After several minutes, the electrician decided to scale the fence and made the gruesome discovery.An alarm was raised and the Police were summoned to the scene. Boston’s body was taken to the Lyken Funeral Home, where it was presently awaiting a post-mortem.Crime Chief, Deputy Police Commissioner Lyndon Alves told Guyana Times on Monday that no one has been arrested for the alleged murder.He stated that the detectives who are tasked with investigating the man’s death were yet to report whether or not they have been able to retrieve Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage from the security cameras at Cummings Electrical Company.However, the Crime Chief noted that while there were reports which suggested that the security cameras were not functioning at the time of Boston’s demise, the Police still have to pursue every angle possible in determining if the man was murdered and the motive.Some staff working at the company had told the media that those security cameras had not been functioning for a while and, therefore, there would be no footage that could be retrieved that would help the Police in their investigations.Investigations into the matter continue.last_img read more
